The latest World Container Freight Index (WCI) report released by shipping consulting agencies shows that spot container freight rates continue to decline this week, especially on the Asia Nordic route, where freight rates are already lower than before the pandemic.
According to the latest World Container Freight Index (WCI) report released by a well-known shipping consulting firm on December 8th, the WCI index continued to decline by 6% this week to $2138.70/FEU.
This is also the 41st consecutive week of decline, a 77% decrease compared to the same period last year. 79% lower than the peak of $10377 reached in September 2021. 21% lower than the average level of $2692/FEU in October. On the one hand, it indicates that the freight rate has returned to a more normal level, but it is still 51% higher than the average freight rate of $1420 in 2019 (before the pandemic).
